MESSAGE FROM H.E. JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA
MESSAGE FROM H.E. JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA, ON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF HAJJ 2026
Fellow Ghanaians,
It gives me great pleasure to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Ghana Hajj Board, the Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim Tanko, members of the Board, management, staff, and all stakeholders for the successful organization and completion of Hajj 2026.
As many of you may recall, Chairman Tanko confidently assured me and the nation that the 2026 Hajj operation would be conducted efficiently, professionally, and in the best interest of Ghanaian pilgrims. While such assurances are important, I placed my confidence in him not merely because of his words, but because of his proven experience, dedication, and previous service in Hajj administration. Today, I am pleased that he and his team have lived up to that responsibility.
I wish to emphasize that while this year’s success deserves celebration, the ultimate measure of excellence is the ability to maintain transparent, accountable, and debt-free operations. I therefore encourage the Chairman and the entire Hajj Board to ensure that no debts are recorded or left behind. Let us strive to maintain clean records, strong financial discipline, and a legacy of accountability that future generations will be proud of.
I also wish to commend the tireless efforts of the Hajj Task Force, the Medical Team, the Welfare Officers, the Security Personnel, the Aviation and Transport Teams, the Information Technology Team, the Catering and Logistics Teams, and all volunteers who worked day and night to ensure the comfort, safety, and spiritual well-being of our pilgrims.
Special appreciation goes to our licensed Hajj Agents and service providers across the country who partnered with the Board and assisted pilgrims throughout the Hajj process. Your contribution remains an important pillar in the success of our national Hajj operations.
To our doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals, I express the gratitude of the nation. Your professionalism, compassion, and readiness to respond to medical needs provided reassurance and protection to our pilgrims throughout their sacred journey.
I also wish to acknowledge the cooperation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose hospitality, security arrangements, and support continue to make it possible for millions of Muslims around the world to perform their religious obligations in peace and dignity.
Above all, I commend the Ghanaian pilgrims themselves. Throughout the pilgrimage, they demonstrated remarkable patience, discipline, resilience, tolerance, and respect for one another. These qualities reflect the finest values of our nation and the teachings of Islam. Their conduct has once again enhanced Ghana’s reputation among the community of nations participating in Hajj.
I am particularly pleased with the spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and sacrifice demonstrated by all stakeholders. The success of Hajj 2026 is not the achievement of one individual or institution; it is the collective achievement of the Hajj Board, government agencies, agents, volunteers, healthcare professionals, security services, and our pilgrims themselves.
As we celebrate this achievement, let us remain committed to continuous improvement, transparency, service excellence, and the welfare of our pilgrims. May Almighty Allah accept the Hajj of all pilgrims, forgive our shortcomings, bless the people of Ghana, and grant us peace, prosperity, and unity.
On behalf of the Government and People of Ghana, I congratulate Alhaji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim Tanko, the Ghana Hajj Board, and all stakeholders on a successful Hajj 2026.
May Allah reward your efforts abundantly and grant continued success in serving the Ummah and the nation.
